Sunstone, the state gemstone of Oregon. 6 pieces. Sunstone is plagioclase feldspar. Copper inclusions give it a spangled appearance when viewed from the correct direction. Oregon sunstone was made the state gemstone in 1987. At one time it was found most plentifully in southern Norway and southern Sweden.
Holly blue agate hasn't been available for collecting from Sweet Home, Oregon since 1997 because the collecting area was leased for timberland, bulldozed and planted. Anyone who tried to collect here was guilty of trespassing and risked a fine and having their rocks confiscated. The area sits on a petrified forest where many species of trees have been identified. Metaphysicists say this stone facilitates communication between the physical and spiritual realms. Face of largest piece is 1"x1.5" Should be kept out of sun. Makes exquisite jewelry.
